Abstract

This project aims to develop and to implement one technique capable to detect and to discriminate the cloud presence as well its respective projected shadow on the terrestrial surface captured in CBERS images. It is intended, with the application of this technique, to get better precision in the results of those gotten with the application of feature indicative indexes NDVI and NDWI. For this, beyond the NDVI and the NDWI, a new set of information will be used to establish the existing relation between shadows and clouds. This set of further information consists: 1) to determine the geographic position of each detected cloud region, using datas of orientation and scale given by CBERS imagery systems; 2) to determine the geographic position in the surface of the land where each cloud nucleus projected its shadow, using informations supplied with the images (azimuth and solar rise).
