Abstract

Due to the important role played by metallic centers in biologic structures and processes, and of the growing knowledgement of transitions metal complexes action in anti-inflammatory, antitumoral and photodynamic therapy processes, this work intends to bring a contribution to the field by studying new trinuclear ruthenium carboxylates with potential pharmacological activity. In this work, in particular, it is intended to combine the [Ru3O] metallic unit with the carboxylates ibuprofen, indoprofen and ketoprofen, drugs with well-known anti-inflammatory activity. It will be developed a new synthetic route to obtain the new complexes and their characterization should be addressed by means of spectroscopic and electrochemical techniques (UV-visible, NMR, infra-red, cyclic voltammetry and, eventually, mass spectrometry). In a future step, in case of a second year of works, it is intended to continue the work focusing the potential pharmacological activity of the new metallo-drugs.
