Abstract

The bibliography of the scientific field of Information Science (IS) presents recurring the terms 'data', 'information' and "knowledge" as being elements that consolidate the area. This way, these terms receive attributes, characteristics and qualifications, but do not always receive sufficient explanation in what plays to the attributes, characteristics and qualifications, providing confusion and insecurity as regards the meanings. Beyond that, detaches that terms 'data', 'information' and 'knowledge' are generally conceived as a basic input about which erects all to story line that involves also the actions of the Information Science. In that sense, proposes a reflexive effort come back specifically about the concepts found in the area bibliography, whose approach lead to the qualification of the three terms cited, while object of IS, since there is undeniable consensus in the scientific environment included by Information Science, the fact of do not exist a consensus about that is characteristic of distinct areas in relation of interface and others elements that it delimit scientifically.
