Abstract

This project will give continuity to the works developed in the College of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Urbanism that study the alternative methods for the treatment of domestic wastewater of small communities. In this specific case, a system consisting of up flow anaerobic filter packed with bamboo associated with a sand filter will be researched. The present project will study a way to find the limit of treatment for this system. For this, filters were constructed and effluent of the anaerobic reactors was applied in two different frequencies of application. The evaluation of this system will be given with the weekly analysis of the wastewater and effluent of the up flow anaerobic filter and the sand filters to determination of the removal of Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) and Total Organic Carbon (TOC), as the procedures of the Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater.
