Abstract

Evaluating logistics performance has been an extensively researched topic both in Brazil and abroad in the last decade. The market competitiveness demands that companies allocate their logistics resources in order to maximize their efficiency. Nevertheless, not much research has identified and structured the measurements of logistic performance evaluation in the grocery industry, a specific sector of the Brazilian economy. Seeing that, this project aims at identifying measurements of logistics performance concerning customer service and costs in manufacturing and retail companies that are members of the grocery distribution channel. This study focus on comparing the performance measurements available in the literature (a qualitative investigation based on a theoretical revision) with those of an empirical research (case studies conducted by means of interviews based on a semi-structured questionnaire), and it also focus on organizing the measurements to establish an evaluation structure for the sector in question.
