Abstract

The objective of this project is to continue the study of models on random graphs for modeling topics such as the transmission of information in networks, construction of phylogenetic trees, epidemiological dynamics or population biology. Simplicity and flexibility are absolutely necessary conditions for this sort of models. Enough simplicity to allow some level of sophistication in the mathematical treatment and to obtain rigorous and meaningful probabilistic outcomes besides enough flexibility for enable applications to real systems. This project is dedicated to overseas training to be held in the Department of Mathematics, University of Colorado with Professor Rinaldo Schinazzi. During the implementation of this project, we will also strengthen the interaction with other researchers working in the United States as Heinrich Matzinger (Georgia Tech-USA) and in Europe as Fabio Zucca (Politecnico di Milano, Italy), Daniela Bertachar (Università di Milano, Italy) and Herve Guiol (Grenoble, France).
