Abstract

The Serra do Mar State Park, in Cubatão region, has been constantly affected by catastrophic events with multiplied effects due to intense anthropic occupation there, through railroads, highways, houses and industrial complex. The vegetation cover suffers from the effects of pollution and engineering works, leaving the soil more exposed to erosion processes; combined with geomorphological, geological and climatic factors, they contribute to the instability of mountain slopes. This project aims to locate critical areas according to the elements mentioned above using a Geographic Information System that allows crossing and interpretation of spatial information and its attributes, supported by fieldwork using a global positioning system by satellite.
