Abstract | |
This study presents Euripides´ Phoenician Women as its subject under discussion. Myth and Ritual are the two aspects under which the play will be investigated in the first part: Chapter 1 seeks to understand in what manner Euripides displays the mythological stories into the production of the tragedy´s plot: in this case, the multifarious literary traditions are analysed in conjuction with dramatic concerns; Chapter 2 seeks to understand the religious background of the play within its ritualistic context, that is, it will be suggested that the textual structure exposes dionisiac implications due to its poetic performance. In the second part, one reads the play wholly translated into portuguese. (AU) | |
