Abstract

This research aimed to understand the role of PIBID to teacher education promoted in four projects linked to Sciences, Biological Sciences, Physics and Chemistry graduation of the Federal University of Paraná. Thus, we seek to apprehend elements from reality to discuss about contributions, contradictions and limits of the Program for teacher education and its curriculum, because this is the formal locus of all future teachers education. To achieve this goal, it takes as theoretical and methodological framework the dialectical and historical materialism. The concepts of theory, practice and praxis are central to the discussion proposed, and its main reference is Vázquez (2011), and authors of the education field, as Freire, Schmied-Kowarzik, Pimenta, Saviani and Zeichner. Based on these frameworks and in connection to the movement of the field work, it is argued that teacher education should be carried out as a formative praxis. From this framework, the program was analyzed from the perspective of public policies for teacher education in legal and institutional documents. We also investigated the PIBID from empirical experiences, and the methodological resource privileged is the semi-structured interviews. They were conducted with teachers from schools, teachers from university and undergraduate fellows from PIBID in 3 different times over two years of development of the Natural Sciences subprojects investigated. The data are analyzed from three categories formulated by theoretical framework: mediations between theory and practice; mediations between school and university; mediations between PIBID and clinical preparation / undergraduate disciplines of the teacher education course. In addition to these categories there are those that emerged from the analysis of the data: mediations between innovation and \"traditional\", which also includes discussion of experimentation in Science education; the category time in teacher education; and the subjective dimension, characteristic of the work with interviews. The analysis of the three theoretical categories and mediations between innovation and \"traditional\" expressed that there is a converged position of these individuals from a common interpretative key: teacher education course is marked by negative aspects, at most it provides \"a little bit of theory\"; PIBID is marked by positive aspects. From these, we highlight the inclusion of undergraduate PIBID fellows at partner school, the relationship between theory and practice, the development of educational activities in collaboration with different individuals, a experience of time which enabled the expression of subjectivity of the interviewees, the promotion of continued education not only for the teacher of basic education, as well as for the higher education teacher, the possibility of a scholarship that allowed the student permanence at university. The interviewees highlight the potential of working together between school and university for teacher training, in which the meeting pedagogically guided between people from different backgrounds is able to produce important formative experiences. Nevertheless, despite the PIBID is recognized for its positive aspects, such a construction is possible particularly by the negative characterization of the initial teacher education courses. In other words, the success of PIBID is only achieved due to the historical failure of the teacher education course. (AU)
