Abstract

The thesis seeks to establish new parameters for understanding the Brazilian vernacular architecture from the historical conditions of its production. Through historical examination of the images used in the interpretation of vernacular constructive cultures, it is intend to demonstrate how the social context and the architectural ideas of each age have built a sense of vernacular architecture whose meaning has always been extemporaneous and externally built. Using an analysis of the procedures that guided the buildings, highlighting their creative processes and their full recursion, it is attempted to show that the Brazilian vernacular architecture has always had its own architectural language ¿ that, for being managed without the use of drawing, has never been recognized as such (AU)
