Abstract

This work is an investigation about the beginning of Brazilian musician Egberto Gismonti's career between the years 1969 and 1977. The research aims to contextualize the artist's inclusion within the field of Brazilian popular music in the transitional period between those decades, marked by several changes among which we can mention the expansion of the music industry and its technological development and aesthetic transformations of popular song, which was more and more open to information genres and foreign styles. During that period we can also observe the transit of Gismonti between the worlds of song and instrumental music. Thus we seek, by analyzing the musical material, uncover conflicts and reallocations of various compositional features present in the phonograms in which experimentalism, recreation, transcription and new sounds supported by technology seem to be indispensable analytical tools to understand Gismonti¿s creative articulations from that period (AU)
