Abstract

This work is linked to the research developed in Araquá River, Midwestern Depression Peripheral compartment (Depressão Periférica Paulista), during the preparation of a dissertation of Master Degree. The main objective of this research was to understand the development of the basin landscape from the analysis of Quaternary superficial coverage that covers old planning surfaces. Concerning the methodology, this study sought to integrate morphometric approaches, dating Optically Stimulated Luminescence and physical and morphological analysis of superficial coverage of the study area. The results pointed to the predominance of neotectonic processes during the Upper Pleistocene and climatic events throughout the Quaternary, the latter responsible for the alternation of wetter environmental conditions to less humid and, concomitantly, in preparing Holocene superficial coverage that cover planning surfaces and low terraces by the specialized field of study, indicating among other things, the possibility of periods of recent planning (AU)
