Nowadays studies show that our cities are pictures of the social relations of everyday life. In the midst of so many segregations, cultural buildings emerge as a place to welcome collective activities and expressions. Through theatre, exhibitions, educational workshops, libraries, architecture approaches human relations and seeks to propose the meeting place. This is how throughout the 20th and 21st-century buildings were designed with spaces common between cultural production and the public. A typology that accompanied the constant changes in the artistic expressions gained new forms, dynamics and dimensions. To identify and verify the effectiveness of these solutions, the research proposes the analysis of three cultural buildings investigating the relations between use and architecture: São Paulo Cultural Center, Brazilian Museum of Sculpture and Ecology and Praça das Artes. These three cases are based on the premise of diffusion and inclusion, having public spaces intended for free use, such as presentations, games, courses, studies and breaks. In each case, two graphical methodologies were used for the data records and for the analysis of the results, the first based on the principles developed by Geoffrey Baker, and the second on the principles of the Experiential Landscape. Through the comparisons of the forms and the uses of these three cultural buildings, the relations between architecture and social appropriations of the public space were highlighted. The delimitation of these relations through the graphic analysis aims to contribute to the understanding of the permanences and paths realized in these contemporary cultural buildings, so that the design methodologies afford be more efficient both in teaching and in the practice of architecture and urbanism (AU) | |
