Abstract

This research has the objective of analysizing the sequencing processes and the narrative construction utilized in the production of photobooks in the 21st century focusing on the author¿s intentions and the way the work is received by the critics. To do so, the study will look into the winning books of the Photobook Awards Aperture / Paris Photo between the years of 2013 and 2015, analyzing de content of the awarded photobooks, conducting in depth interviews with the photographers and analyzing its critical reception. With this material there is a wish to identify recurring or innovative editing techniques in photographic creation and to encounter likely tendencies in this universe of awarded photobooks. Understanding these narrative processes is necessary to deepen the knowledge regarding contemporary photography, since it is presenting itself more and more as a sequential art, focusing of the bonds created between images and not only in the internal content of each one (AU)
