Abstract

This dissertation tries to answer some questions that have aroused from the complex scope of present days feminisms. Seeking to broaden the understanding of contemporary social movements, this thesis aims to study the production of political subjects from the feminist rolê in Brazilians big cities. Thus, recent forms of politicization of gender and sexuality are analyzed, using as empirical object the informal network of young activists self-referenced as feminist rolê, whose connections are guided by a broader ideology associated with autonomy and horizontality. Overall, I inquired about the production of this subject, considering the re-configuration of the feminist field, the processes of generational renewal and the debate on forms of political participation perceived as "institutionalized". To do so, we consider the context that unfolds at the turn of the millennium, and especially in the post-2010 period in Brazil. Because of the ethnographic element, the fieldwork consisted mainly on following the activists and accompanying the movement of subjects, objects, corporalities and discourses. Most of the observation has come from events that compose the "rolê", such as feminist publications fairs, public spaces occupations, feminist festivals, book and fanzines launches, film festivals, concerts, as well as identified blocs and groups in street demonstrations. Throughout the thesis, I explored the meanings attributed to autonomy, the centrality of a pre-figurative activism on body and experience, and the changes toward the hyphenation of political subjects and their regimes of visibility (AU)
