Abstract

The present work has the general goal of collaborating in the comprehension of recent configurations that social movements have taken in contemporary times, by the means of a look towards the emergency of a feminist vegan subject. In descriptive terms, veganism is a corruption of "vegetarianism" and refers to the exclusion of animal based food; the practice has been observed in Brazil in certain networks of feminist activism whose protagonists are mostly young, and suggests the construction of one more difference - derived from the meanings attributed to food consumption - within the plurality of voices that currently recognize themselves as feminists. For this, the research is going to take a multi-sited ethnography approach on events that are mobilized and crossed by those networks that, for being characterized by transit and fluidity, motivates an investigation on ruptures and continuities, coalitions and negotiations implied in the internal dynamics of political activism. It is an activism that constructs itself from a strategy of "politicization of the private", prioritizing on its concerns the centrality of the body, the ludic, sexuality, daily life, commensality, autonomy, the do-it-yourself, the workshops and the fanzines; in such context there can be in action the politicization of new areas of life - like food consumption - or, at least, its thematization in a qualitative distinct manner, one that builds ways of belonging crossed by positions of contextual subjects, because produced in an articulation between gender, sexuality, generation and species.
