| Abstract | |
In institutionalized prison practices scenario, the coexistence of repressive mechanisms emanating both from the official jurisdictions of control and from disciplinary devices manipulated by factions has been widely discussed in academic literature. Most authors argue that, even though a cooperative relationship between these two normative ends exists, the faction would be formed by a complex solidarity network. From this perspective, the aim of the present work is to understand what the relations of belongingness represent to the members of a given faction. Since the formulation of its objectives, this research has been based on the methodological strategy of institutional discourse analysis. Such methodology enabled the outlining of the positions held and assigned by the factions in the relationships between these institutional actors. The analytical process revealed five main thematic categories. In these, the regularities and singularities produced by the construction of the discursive scene as well as the effects of awareness and unawareness of institutional practices relativity were taken into consideration. The ways in which the subjectivity takes place in the constant tension between institutional order submission and the resistance to that same order were observed. The study calls attention to the games of strength, power and truth negotiated between belongingness and imprisonment. (AU) | |
