Abstract

The phylum Cnidaria consists animals that play important roles in the marine environment, both benthic and pelagic. Like other living beings, they have molecular networks responsible for regulating appropriate responses that are reflected in their gene expression and consequently in their physiology and behavior. Currently, studies carried out with this phylum on this expression, have been seen more frequently, by the use of transcriptome sequencing. Most of these studies, however, focus on only two clades of the Anthozoa class (Scleractinia and Actiniaria). Therefore, studies that detail this process are scarce given the diversity of Cnidaria. Thus, the study in question aimed to gather information about gene expression in individuals of the Anthozoa class. Therefore, a systematic review about transcriptomic studies was carried out, in order to point characteristics such as year of publication, main anthozoan taxa used, topics covered, as well as the most frequent technologies currently used to carry out these studies, having revealed the nature and the profile of these transcriptomic investigations. Furthermore, in order to improve the available information, sparsely studied organisms - Subclass Ceriantharia – were used, and through the annotation of sectors of the transcriptome obtained from tentacle samples of the tube-dwelling anemone specie, Ceriantheomorphe brasiliensis, additional contributions about transcriptomics and gene expression was presented to Ceriantharia (AU)
