Abstract | |
This thesis aims at investigating the contributions of the art produced in the last decades to multisensory studies, within the context of the relationship between art, science and technology. The main hypothesis defended is that the art created at this conjecture can not only appropriate the knowledge already acquired by other areas, but it has also the potential to expand these investigations. The following activities were developed during this study: bibliographic survey on multisensory perception in the context of science and art, considering the contribution of technology and digital media to the understanding of the world; selection and analysis of artistic works, with emphasis on the study case of the 2019 edition of the Festival Ars Electronica, and realization of poetic experiments individually and in group, that were related to the topic of Multisensoriality. The main results obtained were: the update of the knowledge on the subject, according to the differences between the areas and the terminological problems of multidisciplinary studies; the recognition of common research topics between artistic and scientific studies within this context; the identification of some trends in the investigation of multisensory processes in the study case and the understanding of the potential of this topic for poetic investigations involving the relationship between the senses on art-technology.
