Abstract

Cinema is considered an important instrument for learning, cultural enrichment, entertainment and leisure. In Brazil, according to 2019 data from the National Cinema Agency Ancine, there are about 3,507 movie theaters. However, a good part of the Brazilian population people with sensory disabilities is still excluded from the benefits that the cinema and audiovisual experience can offer. What excludes them is the limited supply of entertainment services with adequate accessibility, as well as the restrictec offers of movies with accessible resources. In recent years, however, the Agency has mobilized efforts to promote that groups access to movie theaters in Brazil, and consequently to other forms of audiovisual enjoyment that fill daily life, through television broadcasts, content hosted on the internet, among others. However, it is clear that the actions taken with regard to cinema projection spaces have focused only on providing accessible technologies capable of allowing informational access to film content, as well as the necessary efforts of Accessible Audiovisual Translation of the films on display (either Audio description for blind people, and LIBRAS Brazilian Sign Language, and Subtitling for the Deaf and the Hard- of-hearing SDH), without worrying about the steps that make up the service as a whole. In this way, it is proposed to explore challenges and opportunities that the Inclusive Design or Universal Design perspective can offer in order to promote the access of people with sensory or motor disabilities in movie theaters - grouped in the three cycles that it is suggested to understand the service: realization, distribution and display. It also brings up a way of dealing with issues that involve accessibility and inclusion, pointing out the first as a tool perspective, and the other as a result of a systemic arranged. Methodologically, it is based on the Service Design approach - which is also referred to as Design for Service - in the sense of investigating the role of methods consolidated by Design in the identification and transposition of barriers and access restrictions that the current Brazilian cinema service model offers to people with disabilities. Through the co-creative participation of people with disabilities, and the use of a method developed in this Thesis - named Design for Inclusive Equalite in Services, a set of parameters, procedures, tools and accessibility practices oriented to contemplate the needs of current and new users in cinemas (people with disabilities especially sensory), seeking to overcome existing barriers and restrictions. As a result, it is believed that both the parameters and tools mentioned and the method developed can inspire accessible solutions in analogous models of entertainment, such as: theater, sports and exhibitions, as well as in other service contexts, such as restaurants, schools, malls etc. (AU)
