Abstract

Due to changes in competitiveness issues, a possible altemative that has been largely adopted is cooperation between different enterprises looking for agility and products custornization. Virtual Enterprises (VEs) are a temporary type of cooperation, designed for a single business opportunity exploitation. Once being highly grounded on mutual trust and on infrastructures capable of supporting them, VEs tend to be performed from stable cooperation networks named Virtual Organizations (VOs) which join potential partners for VEs formation, rising this way, their chance of success. This project goal is to select adequate technologies, capable of constituting an information infrastructure that supports the activities concemed to VOs and VEs. Considering a series of technical requirements, two versions for the infrastructure are proposed: rninimal and recommended ones. The minimal infrastructure groups only those technologies considered essential for supporting the cooperative work in VOs and VEs. The recommended one joins complementary technologies considered adequate to support the hole life cycle of these types of cooperation. As an example, a possible infrastructure application is proposed, applying the data gathered from a VO performed in São Carlos. Human and specific intra-organizational aspects that have to be satisfied by the participating enterprises are not the present project focus, thus, being not addressed. (AU)
