| Abstract | |
The aim of this work was the synthesis of polymeric nanocomposites (PNCs) filled with Layered Double Hydroxides (LDHs) through miniemulsion polymerization. The copolymer poli(n-butyl acrylate-co-methyl methacrylate) P(BA-co-MMA) was chosen to form the matrix because it is a commercially important component in the formulation of pressure sensitive adhesives (PSA). The commercial available organically modified LDHs Perkalite F100S, Perkalite A100 and Perkalite AF50 were used as fillers. The methodology used was similar to the one used to produce PNCs filled with cationic clays through miniemulsion polymerization, where the inorganic charge is added to the organic phase before the preparation of the miniemulsion.
