Abstract | |
This dissertation aims to show how Figueiredo Coimbra (1866-1899) creates his humoristic series Diálogos by mixing characteristics of the genres chronicle and theater. This series was published between July-1895 and January-1899 in the Rio de Janeiro's newspaper A Notícia, and it reaches a sum of 467 texts. The central theme is the everyday of the end of the nineteenth century. Coimbra uses his experience as a theater writer to insert in his chronicles the structures and conventions that were successful in the theater. Enclosed to the dissertation, there are 133 chronicles from the year of 1895, which form the corpus of this work. These texts accompany explications concerning the themes and the characters discussed on them. (AU) |
