Birthplace: Brazil

Professor of Computational Neuroscience at Florida Atlantic University. His research interests center around understanding the fundamental aspects of neuronal behavior and how they relate to network phenomena. In the current projects, he focuses on modeling different levels of brain organization, ranging from ion channels and neuronal cells to networks and reduced mean-field/firing-rate models. He also employs various techniques to gain insight into how these levels of organization interact. Throughout my career, He has developed expertise in a variety of fields, including Deep Learning, Machine Learning, Information Theory, Stochastic Processes, and Dynamical Systems. Previously, I was a postdoc at the New Jersey Institute of Technology and Rutgers University, where he specialized in Computational and Theoretical Neuroscience. Rodrigo holds a Ph.D. in Physics Applied to Medicine and Biology from the University of São Paulo (Ribeirão Preto) and a Bachelor in Medical Physics from the same university. During his training, he developed scientific initiation and a Ph.D. with a FAPESP scholarship from the USP-RP SisNe (Neural Systems Laboratory). He also collaborates with several outstanding projects such as the CEPID FAPESP NeuroMat 2013 / 07699-0 and the thematic project FAPESP 2011 / 50151-0 denominated Dynamic Phenomena in Complex Networks: Fundamentals and Applications. He also studied at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland and also the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin in Germany where he accumulated extensive experience in Theoretical and Computational Neuroscience and in Biomedical Engineering with emphasis on Modeling Phenomena and Biological Systems.
