Graduated in Industrial Pharmacy from the University of São Paulo (1986), Master in Biochemical-Pharmaceutical Technology from the University of São Paulo (1990) and PhD in Biochemical-Pharmaceutical Technology from the University of São Paulo (1994). He is currently a full professor at the University of São Paulo. He was head of the Department of Biochemical-Pharmaceutical Technology (FBT) at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences (FCF) from May 2015 to May 2019. He is chairman of the Internal Biosafety Committee and the FCF Memory Center. He was chairman of the FCF Internship Committee from June 2009 to June 2015. He chaired the FCF-USP Pharmaceutical Science and Technology Week in 2014, 2015 and 2016. He served as FBT deputy chief from April 2014 to May 2015. From October 2012 to October 2014, he was deputy coordinator of the Graduate Program in Biochemical-Pharmaceutical Technology, and coordinator of this Graduate Program from October 2014 to June 2015. Has experience in Food Science and Technology area, with emphasis on Food Science, acting on the following topics: microbial biomass production and its metabolites, coupling between alcoholic fermentation processes and cyanobacteria and microalgae cultivation, as well as microbial cultivation processes. It has applied for 4 patents in the production process of photosynthetic microorganisms, using carbon dioxide from sugar and alcohol plants (granted by the INPI) and cement industries, reuse of cultivation medium, as well as recovery and use of oxygen from this plant. process. Also filed 2 patents involving applications of these microorganisms in cosmetic formulations. Features over 2500 citations by Google Scholar.
