Holds the Gran Cross of the Brazilian Order of the Scientific Merit and the Gran Cross of the Order of Ipiranga, of the State of São Paulo. Has been Instructor of the University of Wisconsin, US, and Chercheur Associé of the Institute Pasteur, Paris. Has been Full Professor of the Medical School of the Federal University of SP (UNIFESP) and the Institute for BioMedical Sciences, University of S. Paulo (USP). Has been Pro-Rector of Research of USP, Director of the Institute Butantan and President of the Fundação Zerbini of the Hearth Institute (INCOR) of S.Paulo. Is Emeritus Professor of the Institute of BioMedical Sciences and of the Faculty of Medicine of USP. Has been President of the CNPq.Is president of the Butantan Foundation.
