Graduated in Chemistry at the Institute of Chemistry of the University of São Paulo and PhD in Chemistry (Analytical Chemistry, with emphasis in Environmental Chemistry) at the same university. She was a visiting professor at the Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, OK, USA, from June 1992 to June 1994, where developed the project "Use of chemically modified electrodes with enzymes for kinetic study of consecutive reactions," with FAPESP grant, and at the Université de Nantes in Nantes, France, in 1996, where developed the project " Use of biosensors for analysis of pesticides in soil and water systems," with FAPESP grant. She is an associate professor at the University of São Paulo, at the Institute of Chemistry of São Carlos, University of São Paulo, since 1989. She heads the following topics: environmental chemistry, cycling of organic matter, vermicomposting, wastewater treatment, bioherbicides assessment, chemistry of humic substances, recycling of agro-industrial waste and chemistry teaching.
