Birthplace: Brazil

Holds a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from São Paulo State University (1999), a Master's degree (2002), and a Ph.D. (2005) in Computer Science and Computational Mathematics from the University of São Paulo. Completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands (2006), and earned the title of Livre-Docente (Habilitation) from the University of São Paulo in 2014. In 2017, held a second postdoctoral position at the University of Texas at Dallas, USA. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Statistics at the Institute of Mathematics and Computer Sciences, University of São Paulo. He is a principal investigator at the Center for Mathematical Sciences Applied to Industry (CeMEAI) and in collaborative research projects with Petrobras. He coordinates the Laboratory of Applied Mathematics and Scientific Computing (LMACC) and chairs the Steering Committee of CeMEAI's High-Performance Computing Facility. He is Editor-in-Chief of the journal Trends in Computational and Applied Mathematics (TCAM). His research focuses on Applied Mathematics, particularly Numerical Analysis, with emphasis on the numerical solution of differential equations using finite difference, finite volume, and finite element methods, applied to fluid flow simulation. His current work involves the development of multiscale domain decomposition methods and high-performance parallel computing. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
