Silvia Rodrigues Machado

Full professor at Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP) and research productivity grantee from the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from the Faculty of Medical and Biological Sciences of Botucatu (1977), a Master's in Plant Biology from UNESP-Rio Claro (1982) and a PhD in Botany from the State University of São Paulo-USP (1991). He took a specialization course in Cell Biology at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile (1982 and 1986). She was coordinator of the Graduate Program in Biological Sciences (Botany) for three consecutive terms (2004-2012). She worked in the supervision of the Electronic Microscopy Center of the Biosciences Institute of UNESP (2001-2017) and in the scientific coordination of the BOTU Herbarium (2004-2017). Collaborating researcher at the National Museum Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2014-2020). He served on the editorial board and as area editor for the Brazilian Journal of Botany and Acta Botanica. He was a member of the editorial board of Acta Botanica Brasilica. He is guest editor for specific topics in the journal Plants (2020-2022). He works in the area of Botany, with an emphasis on Plant Morphology (lato sensu) mainly on the following topics: plant anatomy, development and cytology, structural and functional adaptations in plants, cellular bases of secretion.
