Presently Dr Palermo is Sênior Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology of the Pathology Department of the School of Veterinary Medicine - USP. He receiver form the Congragation of the Veterinary Scholl the Title of Emeritus Professor in November, 2022. Undergraduate studies performed at the School of Veterinary Medicine of the University of São Paulo (1968), MS in Psychopharmacology and PhD in Pharmacology at the Federal University of São Paulo in 1970 and 1972, respectively. Large experience in Pharmacology and Toxicology matters, focusing on Neuropsicopharmacology and Neuroimmunemodulation and Pharmacology Applied to Food Producing Animals. Presently, he is a member of the Joint Expert Committe on Food Additives (JECFA) of the FAO/OMS Codex alimentarius and "ad hoc" assessor of the Brasilian Agriculture Ministry, Assessor of FAPESP Foundatiuon and other brasilian research agencies, His research line include stress and immunity; cytokines and behavior; risk analysis of veterinary drug residues in food and antimicrobial resistance.
