She has a degree in Biological Sciences - Fac Filos Ciênc Letras Farias Brito (1976), a master's degree (1991) and a doctorate (1999) in Biological Sciences (Plant Biology) from Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho, with a short post-doctoral period in Louisiana State University/USA at Lafayette (2001). She is a Scientific Researcher, level VI, at the Environmental Research Institute (formerly the Botanical Institute), Secretariat of Environment, Infrastructure and Logistics, of the State of São Paulo. She is an accredited professor in the Postgraduate Program in "Plant Biodiversity and Environment" of the same Institution. She held the position of Director of the Department of Knowledge Management from April/2023 to March/2025.
