Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP). Instituto de Matemática, Estatística e Computação Científica (IMECC)  (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Brazil

She holds an undergraduate degree in Mathematics from the University of Brasília (1980), a Master's degree in Mathematics (1984) and a Doctorate in Mathematics (1985), both from Northwestern University. She is currently a Full Professor at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP). She has experience in Mathematics, with emphasis in Dynamical Systems, using homotopic and homological methods. She employs continuous and discrete Conley index theory. In the field of gradient-like flows, she studies: cobordisms given by isolating blocks and the combinatorics associated with Lyapunov graphs; interactions of dynamics with the topology of manifolds. Her area of specialization also includes other tools such as Continuation, Connection Matrices and Transition Matrices, and Spectral Sequences to study cancellations, bifurcations, etc. in Morse-Smale, Smale, Morse-Bott and Novikov Flows; and Gutierrez-Sotomayor Singular Flows.
