Birthplace: Brazil

I hold a bachelor's degree in chemistry from the University of São Paulo (USP) and a master's degree in inorganic chemistry and a PhD in science from the University of Campinas (UNICAMP). During my postgraduate studies, I specialized in materials chemistry with a focus on nanomaterials and nanostructured materials of metal halide perovskites and two-dimensional (2D) perovskites. During this period, I also specialized in X-ray scattering techniques, performing experiments with small and wide-angle scattering (SAXS and WAXS), as well as powder and thin-film X-ray diffraction. This experience in scattering techniques began after my participation in the first Brazilian School of Synchrotron Light in 2017 at the National Synchrotron Light Laboratory (LNLS), now called the Ricardo Rodrigues School of Synchrotron Light (ER2LS). Since then, I have conducted experiments in materials and nanoscience at different synchrotron light sources around the world, including the former UVX at LNLS in Brazil, the Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Lightsource (SSRL) and Advanced Light Source (ALS) in the US, and the SPring-8 Angstrom Compact Free Electron Laser (SACLA) in Japan. My graduate research was largely funded by three grants from the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP). One of these grants allowed me to visit SSRL at Stanford as a visiting researcher, where I performed small-angle X-ray scattering to study in situ nanomaterial synthesis reactions. I am currently a postdoctoral researcher at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL), where I specialize in chiral 2D perovskites. My research experience includes conducting X-ray scattering experiments and spectroscopic techniques to correlate the structure and optical properties of materials, as well as exploring new materials, currently with an emphasis on chiral 2D perovskites.
