Full Professor of Microbiology and Immunology at Piracicaba Dental School, Unicamp and Associate Professor of Periodontology at the Faculté de Medecine Dentaire, Université Laval, Quebec, Canada. He has degree in dentistry from the Unicamp (1987), specializing in Endodontics by the FOP-Unicamp (1989), master's degree in Biology Pathology Bucco-Dental Unicamp (1994) and PhD in Microbiology by the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1998). He has done a post doctoral training in the Forsyth Institute, Boston, USA (2002-2005). He has experience in the field of dentistry, with emphasis on Oral Microbiology and Immunology, acting mainly on the following themes: endodontic and periodontal infection, caries, biofilm, bacterial diversity, antimicrobial activity and immune response.
