She is a full professor in the Department of Health and Society at the School of Public Health of the University of São Paulo. Vice-Dean of the School of Public Health of USP (2018-2022). She has a degree in Medicine from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (1984). She completed her residency (1987), master's degree (1996) and doctorate (2001) in Medicine (Preventive Medicine) at the University of São Paulo. She holds a post-doctorate in Maternal and Child Health from Cemicamp (2004). She is a post-doctorate (visiting reader) at King's College London, Women's Health Division (2012). She collaborated for 20 years with the Feminist Collective of Sexuality and Health (1985-2004) in assistance, research and teaching activities. She has experience in Medicine, with emphasis on Preventive Medicine, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, Gender Violence, Gender and Maternal Health, Maternal and Child Health, and Evidence-Based Public Health. She was regional coordinator (Southeast region) of the National Survey Nascimento no Brasil (2010-2012). She coordinates the CNPq GEMAS group (Gender and Evidence in Maternity and Health). She was head of the Department of Health, Life Cycles and Society, at the School of Public Health at USP (2014-2017). She coordinated the research project Strategies for incorporating innovations in childbirth and newborn care: pilot intervention in the SUS, the Woman and Child Friendly Hospital Initiative (IHAMC), supported by FAPESP (2016-2018). She coordinated the project "Potential Days of Pregnancy Lost" (DPGP): an innovative measure of gestational age" (2018-2020), and currently coordinates the project "Making interventions visible in childbirth" (2021-2023), both supported by CNPq and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in the Call for Data Science in Maternal and Child Health. She is a member of the Abrasco Gender WG. Ruth Sonntag Nussenzweig Award, granted to women scientists, physicians or health professionals, who have distinguished themselves in the field of scientific research or in the advancement of medicine (2022). Visiting professor at the Berlin Alliance (Consortium of 4 German public universities: Free, Charité, Humboldt and Technological Universities) in the area of #8203;#8203;Gender and Health (November 2024/February 2025), Audre Lorde Guest Professorship.
