Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP). Centro de Biologia Molecular e Engenharia Genética (CBMEG)  (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Brazil

Graduated in Biological Sciences from Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (1996), Masters in Pharmacology from Universidade Estadual de Campinas (1999) and Ph.D. in Clinical Medicine from Universidade Estadual de Campinas (2003). Post doctorate in Molecular Biology (2005) at the Molecular Biology Laboratory of the Blood Centre at UNICAMP, Post doctorate in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology and evolution (2007-2011) at the Molecular Plant Biology Laboratory at the Genetics Department at ESALQ. He was a guest researcher at the Department of Life Sciences at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, AB, Canada (2012-2013), responsible for the Computational Biology and statistical analysis of transcriptomes of economic interest forest pests studied by the BEGAB project, ?Budworm Eco -Genomics: Applications & Biotechnology" ( He is currently a full researcher at the Centre for Molecular Biology and Genetic Engineering (CBMEG) at UNICAMP, being responsible for the Laboratory of Integrative and Systemic Biology - LaBIS (, presenting, as central research lines, Analysis, identification and annotation of differentially expressed genes identified by next-generation sequencing techniques, annotation of transcriptomes of non-model systems, evolutionary relationships between protein families. The research areas mentioned above have as study organisms: Lepidoptera considered a pest for Brazilian agriculture, yeasts and fermenting bacteria with an interest in the production of first or second generation bioproducts. Another line of action involves the development of in silico assisted intelligence systems to support the diagnosis and follow-up of patients affected by Myeloids Leukaemia and Alzheimer's Disease. He also works in the BioIT area, being responsible for the administration of Thunder and Bioinfo high performance computing systems, for use in Bioinformatics analysis applied to Agriculture and Bioenergy. He has assisted other research groups in building computer systems for analyzing biological data and managing large volumes of data. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
