Graduated in Philosophy and specialized in History of Religions, at the Università degli Studi di Padova (1987), Italy. Doctorate in Sociology (1998) and Post-Doctorate in Social History (2000-2003), at the University of São Paulo (USP), Brazil, where, finally, he also did his Free Teaching in 2017. Since 2003, Professor Doctor (Free Teaching) in Modern History at the Department of History (Social History program) at the University of São Paulo. Already a member of the Thematic Research Project of the Brazilian Center for Analysis and Planning (CEBRAP), "Christian Missions and Indigenous Populations: the problem of cultural mediation" and of the Thematic Project "Dimensions of the Portuguese Empire", of the Department of History - FFLCH- USP, Chair 'Jaime Cortesão' and Foundation for Research Support of the State of São Paulo (FAPESP): within which he was, finally, coordinator of the Thematic Nucleus "Religion and Evangelization". Member, since 2014, of the Scientific Committee of the International Magazine "Civiltà e Religioni", since 2020 he is (Co)Director of the same Magazine. He works mainly in the area of Modern History, with an emphasis on Modern and Colonial History, History of Religions, History of the Reformation and Counter-Reformation, Catechesis and Mission, Colonization and Cultural Mediation between Europe, America and Asia, Historical Anthropology.
