Fernão Pessoa Ramos is Full Professor at the Department of Cinema Studies, Arts Institute, State University of Campinas (UNICAMP). Founding president of Socine ('Brazilian Society of Film Studies'), he presided the association between 1997 and 2001. He has also served as visiting professor in the Department of Cinema and Audiovisual/University of Paris III (Sorbonne Nouvelle) in 2002, returning in 2015, and at Nanterre/ Paris X University, in 2013. Between 1998 and 2002 he worked as Coordinator of the Graduate Studies Program in Multimedia (at UNICAMP) and was Head of the Department of Cinema Studies (Arts Institut/UNICAMP - 2006-2008). Actually, he's the Coordinator of the Research Center for Documentary Film at UNICAMP (CEPECIDOC). For two times (in 1997 and 2014) he received the 'Prêmio de Reconhecimento Acadêmico Zeferino Vaz', the highest distinguished prize awarded by UNICAMP for researchers. In 2012 he published 'A Imagem-Câmera' (Ed. Papirus) ('The camera-image') and in 2008 'Mas afinal... o que é mesmo documentário?' ("After all... what really is documentary?") by Ed SENAC. He edited, with Luiz Felipe Miranda, of a "Encyclopedia of Brazilian Cinema", which, in 2012, had a new third edition. He is also the author of 'Cinema Marginal (1968/1973) a representação em seu limite' ("'Marginal Cinema', a Boundary Representation". Ed. Brasiliense, 1987) and edited 'História do Cinema Brasileiro' ("History of Brazilian Cinema". Arte Editora, 1987) and 'Teoria Contemporânea do Cinema vol. I e II' ("Contemporary Film Theory / 2 vols)", Ed.SENAC/2005). He is also the editor of the serie 'Campo Imagético' (Fields of Images) from Papirus Editors (Campinas), with more than 20 books published in cinema and audiovisual. He has post-doctoral studies, always with FAPESP fellowships, at the Tisch School of Arts/New York University (1996/97), at UCLA (University of California/ Los Angeles - 2000/01), at Université de Montreal (2005) and at University of Indiana/Bloomington (2014). His lectures and researches have emphasis in Documentary Film Theory and History and Brazilian Cinema. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
