Marcelo Rosanova Ferraro is a Professor of Contemporary History at the Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (Unirio). He has Bachelor of Arts in Law (2009), History (2013) and Social Sciences (2016) granted by the University of São Paulo. He has also a Masters in Social History (2017), and a PhD in Social History (2021) granted by the same institution. He is a member of LabMundi (Laboratório de Estudos sobre o Brasil e o Sistema Mundial - USP) since its foundation in 2013, and coordinater of the research group Capital, Estado e Trabalho: a Crise da Escravidão Negra no Longo Século XIX. He was also a Global Fellow of the Weatherhead Initiative on Global History (Weatherhead Center, Harvard University) in 2015 and 2019, and Visiting Graduate Student of the Afro Latin-American Research Institute (Hutchins Center, Harvard University) in 2019. He was a Postdoctoral Visiting Research Associate at the Afro-Latin American Research institute, at Harvard University (2021-2023), and a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Center for the Study of Slavery and Justice and the Watson Institute, at Brown University (2021-2023).
