Thomas Kenji Akabane holds a bachelor's degree in Geology (2016), a masters (2019), and a PhD (2024) in Geosciences (Geochemistry and Geotectonics) from the University of São Paulo. His research centers on vegetation dynamics and fire regimes, employing proxies such as palynology, microcharcoal, and geochemistry. He has conducted research in tropical South American environments, particularly the Amazon, and has also explored Cenozoic paleopalynology in southeastern Brazil.
