I graduated in Physiotherapy (1992) and in Physical Education (1987) from the State University of Londrina. I attended a master's degree (1988) and doctorate (2002) in Sciences (Human Physiology) at the Ribeirão Preto Medical School, University of São Paulo/USP, and post-doc at the German Aerospace Institute, in the city of Cologne (2023). I was a professor at the State University of Londrina (UEL) in the Department of Physiological Sciences (1993-2005). I am currently an associate professor at the University of São Paulo/USP (since 2005). I am a teaching advisor (master's and doctorate) for the postgraduate program in Rehabilitation and Functional Performance (Physiotherapy) at the Ribeirão Preto Medical School/USP. I am a reviewer for several journals, including; Experimental Gerontology, Journal Applied Physiology, International Journal Cardiology, Autonomic Neuroscience, PLOS ONE, Annals of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, Peptides, Revista Brasileira de Fisioterapia (1413-3555) and Frontiers in Physiology (I am also an area editor). I have experience in the area of Human Physiology, Cardiovascular Physiotherapy with an emphasis on Exercise Physiology, working mainly on the following topics: metabolic, cardiovascular and autonomic adaptations to physical exercise in healthy individuals and those with chronic-degenerative diseases (arterial hypertension, ovarian failure (menopause) , obesity, diabetes and metabolic syndrome).
