Universidade de São Paulo (USP). Instituto de Energia e Ambiente (IEE)  (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Brazil

Graduated in Geology by Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (1973), master's degree (1979) and doctorate (1988) in the Graduate Program in General Geology and Application by the Institute of Geosciences of the University of São Paulo. In 2005, in public competition, he became Prof. Titular of the Department of Sedimentary and Environmental Geology of the Institute of Geosciences of the University of São Paulo. The line of research developed focuses on Geosciences, with emphasis on Surface Geochemistry, with the themes: potentially toxic metals associated with lacustrine environments, (sewage sludges and various industrial activities, iron and steel processes with disposal of metal-containing wastes, and mining activities with dispersion and disposal of tailings containing potentially toxic metal elements). It has spent a lot of attention and study of the remediation mechanisms by the application of natural materials aiming at restoring the conditions closer to the originals of areas impacted by potentially toxic elements. The results of the research carried out in this area led to the development of unconventional techniques, one of which is the development of a reactive substrate, whose main property is to absorb and enertize the polluting effect in the environment in areas that are known to be impacted. In view of the results obtained, it is currently focused on two main lines, one aimed at developing the recovery of noble metals and DAM using bioreactors. The second line deals with the degradation analysis of water supply reservoirs of the RMSP using "vant / drones" identifying the content of chlorophyll a with real - time scanned mapping in order to identify the eutrophication of these reservoirs.
