Universidade Federal de São Carlos (UFSCAR). Centro de Ciências Exatas e de Tecnologia (CCET)  (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Brazil

Professional Experience:My career began as an office assistant at Cocamar in Paraná (19841990). I was a collaborating professor in the Department of Mathematics at UEM (20042008), and since 2008, I have been a professor (currently Associate IV) in the Department of Chemical Engineering at UFSCar.Roles at UFSCar:I am involved in teaching and research at both undergraduate and graduate levels. I served as the coordinator of the Graduate Program in Chemical Engineering (PPGEQ) from 2021 to 2025. I was the faculty representative on the Graduate Committee for Chemical Engineering (20192021) and coordinated the research area in Biochemical Engineering within the Department of Chemical Engineering (20172019). I also coordinated extension and research programs (20142019), the internship committee for the Chemical Engineering program (20122013), and represented the department on the coordination council of the Chemistry program at UFSCar (20092012). Since 2010, I have been a permanent faculty member of the PPGEQ.Research:As the leader of the research group on enzymatic process engineering registered with CNPq and a CNPq Level 1D productivity fellow, I supervise masters and doctoral students in the PPGEQ at UFSCar. My research areas include enzyme immobilization and stabilization, industrial applications of free and immobilized enzymes, production and purification of microbial and plant proteins, development of magnetic supports and biocatalysts, and the utilization of agro-industrial residues.Target Products:Our research focuses on the production of fatty acid esters for fuels (biodiesel), lubricants, biosurfactants/emulsifiers, cyclodextrins, fructose and maltose syrups, gluconates, and protein hydrolysates. We evaluate the performance of free and immobilized enzymes in various reactor configurations, such as stirred tanks, fixed beds, fluidized beds, and vortex flow reactors.
