PhD in Sciences in the field of Microbiology with an emphasis on Virology from the University of São Paulo (USP), including a sandwich program in Guadeloupe, France, at the Centre de Coopération Internationale en Recherche Agronomique pour le Développement (CIRAD).She holds a Bachelors degree in Biological Sciences Medical Modality from the University of Mogi das Cruzes and began her scientific career at the University of São Paulo, completing an internship in Pharmaceutical Sciences (Mycology) and an undergraduate research project in Biomedical Sciences (Microbiology, 2005), both at USP.She completed a Postdoctoral fellowship in Microbiology at USP, focusing mainly on research into emerging viruses such as West Nile virus, Hantavirus, Influenza A, Newcastle Disease, and Flaviviruses.During her Postdoctoral training, she worked as a visiting researcher at the Viral Special Pathogens Branch (VSPB) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Atlanta, USA, conducting research on emerging and re-emerging viruses of global concern and working in BSL-3/4 laboratories with viruses such as Sabiá, Nipah, Hendra, Sosuga, Marburg, and Ebola. She has over 20 years of experience in biosafety, training, microbiology, ecology, and epidemiology, with an emphasis on virology. Her expertise includes biosafety, emerging and re-emerging viruses, fieldwork, collection of biological samples from humans and wild animals, molecular and serological diagnostics of viral diseases, and molecular epidemiology of viruses. From 2009 to 2017, she was the lead researcher of Brazils first high-biocontainment laboratory, the BSL-3+ facility at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences II, USP, where since 2018 she has continued as a collaborating researcher on projects related to the study and prevention of SARS-CoV-2 and on the PREVIR Project of the MCTI Virus Network. She co-founded the voluntary digital platform EPISaúde, which supported healthcare professionals with technical-scientific guidance on the correct use and management of personal protective equipment (PPE) during the COVID-19 pandemic. She also co-founded the Digital Bio Mídia project, specializing in online biosafety training for schools, companies, and healthcare centers, and founded EPI Bio, a company dedicated to biosafety training and consulting. She currently works as Biosafety Manager at the Brazilian Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM), directly involved in the biosafety program for high- and maximum-biocontainment laboratories, microbiological biosafety training programs for BSL-3 laboratories, and is part of Project Orion, which includes the construction of Brazils first maximum biocontainment laboratory.
