Human rights defender, professor and researcher. He works in the Department of Social Sciences and the Postgraduate Program in Social Anthropology at the Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM), where he leads the research and extension collective ILHARGAS - Cities, Politics and Violence (CNPq). He currently coordinates the "Vigilantism, collective violence and security governance" working group of the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO) and the research project Incarceration in Amazonas: political and social transformations after massacres (FAPEAM, 2022-Present). He is a researcher at the National Institute of Science and Technology Violence, Power and Public Security (INViPS/CNPq). He is also the local coordinator of the network research project Prison politics and flows: life experiences around prisons in the North and Northeast of Brazil (CNPq, 2022-Present). He did a post-doctoral internship at the Facultad de Sociología y Política of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Spain, 2018-2019) and coordinated the research projects Lynchings and street security in three Brazilian metropolises (CNPq, 2019-2022), Lynchings in the Metropolitan Region of Manaus: A multidimensional and comparative study on street justice, state and moralities (FAPEAM, 2020-2022) and Regimes of spatial mobility in the urban Amazon (CNPq, 2016-2018), as well as the extension project Observatory of Gender Violence in Amazonas (UFAM, 2016-2018). He obtained his doctorate in sociology from the University of São Paulo. He conducts research in sociology and urban anthropology, with an emphasis on violence, security, crime and punishment; mobilities and borders; gender, race and other differences.
