Miguel Angel San Miguel Barrera

BSc in Chemistry (1991), MSc in Chemistry (1994), and PhD in Chemical Sciences (1998) from the University of Sevilla (Spain). Associate Professor in the Department of Physical-Chemistry at the University of Sevilla (2009-2014). Currently, an Associate Professor and Head of the Physical-Chemistry Department at the Institute of Chemistry at Unicamp (Brazil). He concluded several post-doctoral stays at the Universities of Reading and Warwick (UK) between 1998 and 2003. He was a Visiting Professor at the University of Oxford in 2008-2009, developing computational strategies to simulate self-assembled systems. He has published over 110 articles in international journals on various research topics using atomistic modeling, including chemical reactivity, biomaterials, and heterogeneous catalysis. Active participation in +40 funded research projects. He has served as an invited speaker at over 50 international events. He is the leader of the Unicamp Materials Simulation Lab (https://umsl.iqm.unicamp.br/). Main research area: Theoretical and computational chemistry applied to Materials Science.
