I am an Associate Professor and Tenured Lecturer in Aquaculture and Circular Economy at São Paulo State University (UNESP), where I serve as an educator, researcher, and innovation manager. My academic journey began in Animal Science at the State University in western Paraná, Brazil and progressed to earning a SWE Ph.D. in Animal Sciences from the University of Brasília (UnB) and the University of Guelph (Canada), in the Department of Biosciences. I subsequently completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Applied Bioinnovation in Aquaculture.I also had the opportunity to receive training in innovation and mentoring startups and spin-offs through the I-Corps Program at the University of California, Berkeley. This experience further strengthened my commitment to connecting science with society. Throughout my career, I have been guided by the idea of the responsible use of natural resources and maintaining the balance of aquatic organisms within ecosystems.In the early years, I served as President of the Água Viva Institute, leading extension and innovation projects in local communities. Later, I worked on aquaculture planning in federal waters under the Ministries of Agriculture and Fisheries, and as a consultant for the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO/UN), focusing on technology and sustainability. These experiences over more than 20 years have demonstrated to me the importance of integrating scientific knowledge, public policy, and social impact to create real change.At UNESP, I served as an Advisor to the Rectors Office and as Entrepreneurship Manager at the Unesp Innovation Agency (AUIN). I am also the co-founder of Aquário de Ideias, a Technology-Based Business Incubator in the Vale do Ribeira and the Southern Coast of São Paulo. It was created to unite young people, producers, and scientists in developing innovative solutions for society. Additionally, I helped establish the Paulista Network of Innovation Environments (API), driven by the belief that greater impact and sustainability are achieved through collaboration and co-creation networks.Currently, I teach courses in Bioeconomy, Innovation, Scientific Entrepreneurship, and Sustainable Projects. I mentor young researchers and entrepreneurs who want to turn their ideas into science-based DeepTech ventures. I am a member of research centers such as the Aquaculture Center (Caunesp/UNESP), the Biodiversity and Climate Change Research Center (CBioClima/CEPID/FAPESP), the National Institute of Science and Technology for Sustainable NanoAgro (INCT/CNPq), and the Global Bioeconomy Alliance (GBA). I also serve on the Board of the Advanced Institute of Artificial Intelligence (AI2).In all these roles, my mission remains the same: to use science, technology, and social innovation to improve water resource management, support sustainable food production, and strengthen the bioeconomy. I believe every research project, startup, and initiative I contribute to has the power to improve lives and pave the way for a fairer and more sustainable future. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
