BLASp4: IoT platform for predicting bioeconomic carry capacity and ecosystem aquaculture services under different climate, zootechnical and financial scenarios of fish farms in neotropical environment

Abstract

Brazil is the fourth largest producer of tilapia in the world and in the coming years it will be the leader in the agribusiness of fish produced in continental waters, having mainly the use of natural water resources available in neotropical lakes and reservoirs that total approximately five thousand hectares available for the aquaculture sector. The potential environmental externalities and the definition of modern methodologies and tools for environmental management of rural enterprises using 4.0 technologies and solutions for aquabusiness are the main demands of managers and investors who have increasingly sought to implement these concepts. These allow to minimize climate and management risks, make farms more competitive and allow access to legal and economic incentives that companies receive when adopting these modern, responsible and sustainable practices in animal production. Thus, this project will create an innovative platform for teaching, scientific research and innovation using 4.0 technologies and innovative processes for calculating and managing the bioeconomic carry capacity (CSBio) and measuring the ecosystem aquaculture services (EAS) for fish enterprises installed in reservoirs and lakes in the State of São Paulo, in the regions of Vale do Ribeira and Paranapanema River. Thus, eight fish farms will be selected in these regions for installation of prototypes to be developed with climate and limnological sensors. These will send information in real time that will be integrated with zootechnical and economic data using algorithms integrated into the digital platform. This will provide a range of services and automated information in real time that will help in decision making considering climate and fish production variations and enabling the creation of new "eco-friendly" products and services. This proposal will be developed in co-creation between University/Companies/Government/Society through connection and national and international exchange between students, scientists and stakeholders in the sector. Such initiatives will also help in the development of this line of cientific research in the country and new proposals for undergraduate and graduate courses, training of specialized human resources, spin-offs, startups and production of products and industrial properties in these new areas of knowledge.
