Marcel Fantin

CNPq Productivity Fellow PQ-2. Professor at the Institute of Architecture and Urbanism, University of São Paulo (IAU-USP), in undergraduate courses and the Graduate Program in Architecture and Urbanism (PPGAU-IAU). Member of the research groups YBY - Land Studies, Public Policies, Space and Landscape Production Group, and LEAUC - Contemporary Urban Environment Studies Laboratory. Holds a bachelor's degree in Law from the University of Vale do Paraíba (2002), a specialization in Environmental Law from the University of São Paulo (2003), a master's degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Vale do Paraíba (2005), and a PhD in Geosciences (subarea: Politics and Management of Natural Resources) from the State University of Campinas (2011) with a Sandwich PhD at the Département de génie des mines et de la métallurgie, Université Laval (2010). Also has a professional technical course in cartography from the University of Vale do Paraíba (1997). Served as a lecturer (2008-2014) in undergraduate courses in Law and Environmental Management at the Faculty of Paulínia (FACP) and in the Academic Master's Program in Regional Development and Environment at the University of Araraquara (UNIARA). Visiting professor in 2022 at the Universidad Nacional de General Sarmiento, Argentina, through the PRINT CAPES USP 2022 program (International research network on Labor and Territory in the Southern Cone) Project: comparative study in the field of technological transformations and the relationships between companies and the State in the development of parks and technological districts. Also a member of the Ibero-American research network RUNCYTED - Citizen Science and co-creation as means of river regeneration and risk minimization RUN, naturalized urban rivers, Lusophone University of Lisbon. Member of the Culture and Extension Committee (Ccex) and representative of IAU-USP in the Management Council of the São Carlos Campus - City Hall of the USP São Carlos Campus. Developed projects in the area of urban, environmental, and regional planning at the Polis Institute in municipalities along the coast of São Paulo State, as well as master plans and socioeconomic development plans in municipalities of the State of Bahia. Worked on the ICES initiative (Emerging and Sustainable Cities) of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) for the Municipality of Vitória and in integrated diagnostics in socioeconomics and environmental impact studies in areas influenced by the Vale do Rio Doce Company in the states of Pará and Maranhão, Africa, and Southeast Asia. Conducted a survey of environmental and socioterritorial conflicts of aggregate mining in the macroregions of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Salvador, Curitiba, Porto Alegre, Recife, Goiânia-Brasília, Campo Grande, and Belém for the Brazilian Agency for Industrial Development. Honorary associate of Matiá Technical Advisory in Social Interest Housing. Author of the book: Mineral Aggregates, Environment, and Urbanization from the Perspective of Canadian Public Policies.
