Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP). Instituto de Biologia (IB)  (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Espanha

She holds a degree in Biological Sciences from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU, Spain) and a Masters and PhD in Genetics and Molecular Biology from the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) where she is currently a tenured professor (livre-docente) in the Department of Plant Biology. Her research focuses on plant physiology and soil microbiology, with an emphasis on plant-microorganism interactions, particularly arbuscular mycorrhizal symbioses. She investigates the mechanisms by which these interactions contribute to plant mineral nutrition and the mitigation of abiotic stresses, including phosphorus deficiency, metal toxicity, and water deficit. She is involved in strategic research projects, notably studies with eucalyptus and other economically important plant species. She participates in the AmazonFACE experiment, which investigates the effects of elevated atmospheric CO2 on belowground processes in the Amazon rainforest. Since 2023, she has served as the coordinator of the Graduate Program in Plant Biology at UNICAMP, where she also supervises graduate students. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
